Auklet Birds Facts & Images
Auklet, likewise called Sea Sparrow, any of six types of little seabirds of the family Alcidae (request Charadriiformes). They breed principally in the Bering Sea and the North Pacific; some winter as far south as Japan and Mexico. Auklets in rearing plumage contrast from the identified murrelets in having tufts and other head decorations, incorporating brilliantly coloured bill plates like those of their relatives the puffins. They settle in hole close to the ocean, laying a solitary egg. The youthful stay in the home until completely fledged.
